Let me start by saying that I love this game. I know the loot system is a huge issue for people. I almost never get drops fit for my level or class. It forces people to trade or use the auction house. Which leads to how complicated the auction house is. I know many of us came from WoW. I think that auction house system worked well. It was easier to navigate, search, and compare prices. Instead of requiring us to select individual stats of items we search for, perhaps there could be a "search for similar item" function and have the option to narrow down results further. The chat box could be improved as well. It's difficult to keep track of whispers and party messages when you join a channel like general chat. Multiple panes and the ability to join multiple channels would be nice. I think it would reduce the trade spam in general if we could choose to watch both channels. I also notice that even when i report a gold trader for spam and block them from communication, i still see them in general chat. I've stopped bothering completely now. An auto-away time limit and auto-busy during boss fights would be welcomed icing on the cake. Gold seems to be too prevalent and might need adjusting somewhere. Base drop amounts would probably be the easiest way to improve the economy. I wouldn't be surprised to see more gold sinks added as well. I really love not having to pick up gold but the pickup radius stat is ridiculous to me. I think it devalues the gear and would rather see it as a stat that expands as levels are earned. It would be really nice to see stackable items automatically picked up as well, provided that there is either space or at least one of that item already in the bag. I can see their reasons for not having 8 players. I don't agree with them, especially in an age where I can play another game that can support 64. However, I think 5 is a good compromise so that we might be able to have a complete group using all of the classes. With so few players in parties, a decent in-game voice chat seems entirely manageable as well. What are your thoughts and opinions?
I wouldn't want to see them move away from the random stat generation on items. "Almost never" getting the drops you want is what makes the really good item rolls fun and the game addicting but I can see how people coming from WoW and those that have never played Diablo before might think the loot system is stupid. The chat function is beyond retarded and doesn't feel like the intuitive UI that Blizzard often delivers. For example, when I want to tab between users, I'm given a pop up list of all the people I've spoken with instead of just having it quick switch. I really hate battle.net 2.0 and much prefer the old system we had in Diablo 2. I would leave the game running all the time and just hang out with friends in chatrooms. I barely even speak with the friends I have on my list atm because the system is so fickle. The pickup stat has it's place and it's not always a worthless stat. If farming, I don't mind it so much as I can move a bit faster through the act instead of having to run over each individual piece of gold - it is a trade off between convenience or more DPS. I actually think they got it right with a 4 player maximum even though initially I thought it was strange not to have 8 like Diablo 2. I also think they got Inferno wrong and I'm betting they'll make some changes to it in the coming months. My favorite act is the first yet there is no reason to ever go back there - even on Inferno mode. So instead of them stopping us from farming bosses like we did in Diablo 2, we now get to farm Act 4 over and over and over. They've changed the scenario but not the situation. I think a better option would've been to have the same loot, same difficult spread across each Act so that some days I might run Act 4 and on others, Act 1 with the challenge and difficulty being the same but seeing more of the world.
The only the that irks me is that the blacksmith doesn't repair gear. I have to go to the guy that sells dyes to repair my gear... I like the 4 player max to but agree it would be fun to have five just so you could have one of each class in the same game. I also miss sapphires, diamonds, and skulls as gems. I'd like for them to bring those back so we can customize our gear even more and tailor gear to builds even better. I wish they would add an avatar in the upper left for my companions as well. My bat always flies away and I think I forgot to cast him or something and end up doing it twice. If there was a pic I could dismiss him as well if I ever wanted to.
After playing in Inferno for a while this is what I'd like to see in future Inferno patches: Enemies do less damage. This is so you don't get 1-2 shotted. Enemies have greater health. This will compensate/add challenge to Inferno. Increase the quantities of enemies. This will compensate/add challenge to Inferno. Plus this will add to the hordes of enemies mentality that I think of when I think of Diablo. EDIT: I know they've said they're going to alter artisan requirements and I agree they need to do that too. I'd rather more materials be required and less gold for BS and the gem requirements to upgrade to the next level need to be lowered on the Jeweler as well.
I disagree with you on the first 2 but agree there needs to be a larger quantity of enemies. Even though the WD's pets are almost useless in Inferno, it'd make skills like Sacrifice much more viable if there was more trash. It's a fun and great to use skill while leveling but there is no reason to use it come 60. I'm sure the same applies to the other classes. I've held off a few days putting a post up on the changes I'd make as I'm still giving it some thought but something I know I would change now is the build restriction on neph valor because: A) I'm encountering a lot of players who don't even know you lose the neph buff once you change your skill. B) Even at 5 stacks, it isn't that impressive. Considering you can easily get over 40% MF on a helm alone, 5 stacks is only worth 2 pieces of really good MF gear. C) They wanted to encourage build diversity but the neph requirement ensures you're using the same build for an entire run.
I don't want the enemies to turn into push overs but I want enough time to react. I also don't want to kite for 15 min just to kill a spiderling. I'd rather the challenge be in effectively attacking and killing the enemy not running from them. I personally think NV is one of the best features in the game. It's totally changed my attitude from hating an elite pack encounter to looking forward to it. Plus it doesn't take anything equipment wise or whatever to get the extra MF/GF so it's extra just for killing packs. I thought the whole NV thing was to encourage people to stick with a build since everyone was compalining they got rid of stat points.
