If you've made your way into Hell and Inferno you've probably noticed the increased difficulty of mobs. Lots of complaints have been voiced regarding some monster affixes (particularly "Invulnerable") and that these affixes should be removed. Addressing these complaints Lylirra posted a response: So, what do you think? Are some affixes too difficult that they should be removed?
So far the toughest ones I've come across are Vortex, Frozen (mines), and Plagued. Waller is surprisingly easy, as is Arcane. I'm sure there are some impossible combinations and I feel that that's just fine.
Waller is really useful for a WD as I can hide behind it while I wait for mana to regen or CD's to refresh. It protects you from casters as well as melee and can help to split the pack up. It's the least problematic of all the affixes. I don't mind Frozen, Plagued or Arcane so much as you can simply move away - unless combined with Jailer. The issue I think most groups are running into is that when they run away, they run to areas yet unexplored and pull adds. They split DPS and get a bunch of minions to half life. People split up, rez at different times and don't fight as a group. They don't clear around the champ packs and they waste shrines on trash instead of saving them for the packs. If they just worked together and got a single minion down, the degree of difficulty drops each time. Something like a Mortor, Jailer, Vortex and Invulnerable Minions is the point where I say **** it and move on. Can't get close, can't get ranged, can't escape - at least with my current gear. The other thing is - people are complaining about the difficulty of Act 1 yet have probably done less than 5 runs. I thought it was extremely difficult during my first run through - 2 weeks later and it's such a joke, you don't even need to check what affixes they have as you can plough right through them - this is in solo and 4 man group play. Writing a post about this in my mind at the moment and I'll put it up in the next few days. Gist is basically even though Inferno doesn't need a nerf, it'll get one and the excuse will be their mantra is they design content for the masses, not the minority - same **** they pulled with WoW. It's really just about the bottom line at the end of the day. People will leave and they'll lose out on RMAH transactions. Just wanted to add - Extra Health affix is Act 3 has been a little problematic for me as it reduces the effectiveness of blowing your CD's and burning down the minions, rezzing up and doing it again. Again though, it's something that can be defeated through gearing.
