http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/demon-hunter#aRXlVj!fTe!ZcZabb Here is the build I've been playing for a while in Inferno. As is the popular sentiment with DHs at the current moment, this build does a ton of damage but can only stand 1-2 possibly 3 hits. The key is to kill enemies quickly or kite, kite, kite. Most of my gear is focused on DEX increases to increase DPS with a few trade offs for extra VIT. Passives: Perfectionist: This lowers the required amount of Discipline for skills that use it. Smoke Screen is the main defense of this build so anything you can do in order to utilize this skill more is valuable. Sharpshooter: The increased chance for a critical hit that Sharpshooter adds helps to increase your DPS exponentially. This is one of the main complaints against DHs right now so hopefully they won't nerf it. Archery: This adds extra weapon damage in some form no matter what weapon you use. EDIT: This adds extra weapon damage in some form no matter what [ranged] weapon you use. Primary: Hungering Arrow (Cinder Arrow) 115% weapon damage and a 35% chance to pierce plus Cinder Arrow deals an additional 35% damage over 3 seconds. It's the most trusty skill IMHO. It fires quickly and does good damage. Secondary: Elemental Arrow (Nether Tentacles) This skill does great damage, doesn't require a lot of Hatred, always pierces, and sucks life. Nuff said. I usually use Hungering Arrow until a group starts to form then I unleash Elemental Arrow. This handles all packs of basic enemies. For champion/rare packs you can do good damage but you'll have to kite a little. Defensive: Smoke Screen (Lingering Fog) This is your main defense. If a champion/rare/boss is about to land a hit then use Smoke Screen to dodge. I hit this as much as I can until Discipline runs out so I can keep firing Elemental Arrow. Archery: Rain of Vengeance (Dark Cloud) This will help do damage to large areas and will follow and do damage as you kite. It's not the best damage producer but helps enough and is better than any alternative I've found. Some people substitute this for Caltrops with Bait the Trap and perhaps I'll switch to this when DPS gets higher but I don't stand still long enough to receive the bonus. For now, I've opted for a little more offense. Hunting: Preparation (Battle Scars) This will instantly replenish your Discipline which will give you extra chances to utilize Smoke Screen. Battle Scars also provides 60 percent health regen which provides extra value to this skill. The crappy part is a 45 second cool down. Knowing where you are with this skill is essential because you're usually utilizing it when under duress. Hunting: Marked for Death (Grim Reaper) This is another skill you’ll utilize to maximize damage. Naturally, you’ll try to mark the strongest enemy you encounter (either the boss, champion, or unique). Grim Reaper is useful in packs since it does additional damage to surrounding enemies if you attack the marked enemy. This will also help with crowd control a bit.
