Blizzard has announced new server systems designed to help you team up with friends from around the world. The new "Global Play" system divides the world into three "home regions" each with their own characters, items, friends lists, and gold-based auction houses. These systems will not carry across regions. Additonaly, the RMAH will only be accessible to players in their home region. Players can switch between regions through the "Options" menu before or after you log into Battle.net. One interesting note is that if server maintenace is occuring in only one region, players can switch to a different region to play. Blizzard states: The home regions are divided into: The Americas - For players in the US, Canada, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia. Europe - For players in the European Union, Eastern Europe, Russia, Africa, and Middle Eastern countries such as Israel and the United Arab Emirates. Asia - For players in South Korea and the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. For more info, check out the FAQ here.
Wait, so you can switch between the regions under the options? Like if I'm in the US, I can switch to playing on the European system? Awesome!
