With the release just 9 days away I thought it would be fun to start a discussion about remembering the battles that were a challenge for you in Diablo or Diablo 2/LOD. All I have to say is Duriel was a HUGE pain in my ass period
Oh... Duriel... the bastard. I always thought the first fight with Diablo was ridiculous! He'd do that fire nova and BOOM 70% health is gone. if you're a summoning necro forget about it 'cause your army is dead and you aren't getting another one. Had to stock up on health pots so much that on the first play through you might as well spend all your gold on them lol UNLESS you were lucky enough to find a lot of fire resistant gear (there was one low level set... i forget)
Act 2 the Arcane Sanctuary in the palace with those long skinny hallways I died a lot with my necromancer. Also the claw viper temple act 2 those claw vipers demons were a pain for my necromancer. Also Duriel act 2 was a pain. Act 3 Mephisto was also pain not as bad as Duriel
Agree on with a lot that's already been said: Duriel, especially on Nightmare, Diablo, on normal and Nightmare, & the Claw Viper Temple. I'll go ahead and add Über Diablo.
I dont remember much being "hard" in Diablo 2. I'm not a hardcore player (usually) so I didn't challenge myself too much either. I was not a fan of the Arcane Sanctuary as a Trap assassin. Most of Act 4 Hell was really tough unless you were built and geared. Definitely beating the Uber fight for the first time (trio of BO Barb with Howl, Hammerdin and Zealadin) was a great experience.
With the first Diablo I remember my first fight with Diablo as well. I always love clicking on everything to see what happens and of course I released all of the creatures. fml I was young and naive. I learned my lesson and figured out how to single out Diablo but that initial WTF moment... I will never forget that.
